Terms of use.

These terms are between you and MASS LLC (The MASS Lab), which operates KnowMessenger. Using the service means you accept them. Several provisions that a lawyer normally drafts — governing law, dispute resolution, limits on liability — are not yet settled and are therefore not stated here rather than being guessed at; they will be added, and this page will be re-dated, when they are.

KnowMessenger is a chat interface over a knowledge base you control, with an audit record of what the assistant did. It can run its turns three ways: through Amazon Bedrock (the default), through an AI provider you supply your own API key for, or through an AI command-line tool installed on your own machine.

The assistant's output is generated by a statistical model. It can be wrong, incomplete, or confidently invented, and nothing it produces is professional advice. Check anything you intend to rely on. The service will not silently substitute a different tool than the one you selected: if the local command-line agent you chose is not installed, the turn is refused rather than quietly run somewhere else.

Features are labelled on this site as live, roadmap, or gated, and that labelling is the commitment: a roadmap item is not sold as present. Individual capabilities may be turned off on a given deployment.

You are responsible for the security of your account and for what is done through it. Passwords are held by Amazon Cognito and must meet its minimum: at least twelve characters, with an upper-case letter, a lower-case letter, a digit, and a symbol.

Self-service sign-up is not open on every deployment. Where an organisation provisions accounts for its people, sign-up is closed and access arrives through that organisation instead.

Your notes, files, conversations and transcripts remain yours. The service is granted only the access it needs to run the features you use, and access to your vault is bounded by the grants you approve — the assistant stops and asks rather than reading outside them.

If you supply your own provider API key, that provider's terms and that provider's bill are yours. The key is stored in your own vault, namespaced to your user, and is used only to serve your turns.

Attachments are capped at 25 MB each. Do not upload material you lack the right to upload.

Do not use the service to break the law, to attack it or anyone else's systems, to work around its rate limits or access controls, or to capture people's conversations where doing so is unlawful or where you have not obtained the consent the law requires.

The ambient-capture feature announces itself to the room by default. Turning that announcement off does not transfer to us the responsibility for telling the people you are recording; the consent of everyone present remains yours to obtain.

Requests are rate-limited. Exceeding a limit returns a refusal with a retry-after; automating around it is not acceptable use.

Paid plans are subscriptions billed through Stripe, charged in US dollars. You choose the billing period at checkout — monthly or annual — and the plan renews at the end of each period until cancelled. Payment details are handled by Stripe, not by us.

You can manage or cancel a subscription from the billing portal reachable from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals.

A refund policy has not been published yet. Until it is, ask — refund questions are handled by a person.

You can stop using the service at any time, delete individual conversations, delete individual capture sessions along with their transcripts, and delete your account and everything attached to it from inside the app. Account deletion cancels any subscription first and cannot be undone; the privacy notice sets out what it reaches and the two things it does not.

Access may be suspended for the acceptable-use reasons above, or where an organisation that provisioned your account withdraws it.

These terms are dated 2026-09-11. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date. MASS LLC (The MASS Lab) is formed in Minnesota. No choice-of-law or venue term is asserted here.
